“Far Above Rubies” Women’s Conference 2010:

Mission to the Philippines 21 May – 2 June 2010

Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies Proverbs 31: 10

City Gates “Passions for Missions” team are once again pushing back the boundaries of faith in action. During May 2010 they sent a dedicated team of eight women on a short-term mission, to work with local women in the Antipolo region of the Philippines.

The mission aimed to encourage, support and empower women with the word of God; with the team working in partnership with women from the local community, they shared their skills, gifts and faith.  A variety of activities were planned over the 2 week visit, with the highlight event being a two day women’s conference: Far above Rubies. This will included workshops on Health and Well-being, Parenting, Gospel-Outreach and a range of beauty/ pampering treatments for the women.

What some of the 2010 Missionaries said:

Annette Baidoo: “The above Rubies Mission/Conference was far above expectations, the spirit of excellence reigned supreme throughout  the conference and the team! Lives were touched, physically spiritually & emotionally. Through the Conference Workshops, the ladies’ confidence & self-esteem were built up; they left feeling supported and empowered, encouraged to continue being women far above rubies and precious in the sight of God.

I could do this mission all over again!”

Charmaine Broome: “I would like to say that we went on a fantastic Mission to the Phillipines.  For me this was such a life-changing and empowering journey – I would recommend everyone who has a heart for Mission, to get the training and pray for an opportunity to go on Mission.

The brethren in the Philippines were so loving and welcoming, and the team worked well together – in spite of a very gruelling programme! We could see how God really moved in every aspect of this mission, as His power manifested itself through: salvation, healing and overwhelming joy, toward the ladies who were pampered, prayed for, and brought the love of Jesus in a very real and practical way.   This opened them and their families up to receiving the Gospel of Jesus freely during our visit… Thanks be to God for His goodness and mercy towards each one of us.

This model of mission is something that should be used again and again, where ever the Lord will.”

Jennifer Malcolm: “It was really inspiring to see the delivery of such an ‘excellent’ programme. The ‘Above Rubies‘ conference has most definitely impacted on changing women’s lives in the Philippines where we were based. There was a real sense of community shown through the love of God.

The experience of the women’s conference and the children’s programme is very difficult for me to put into words: it really has been a life-changing experience, which I am sure enabled the entire team to grow spiritually.

Thank you so much ‘City Women’ for allowing me to be part of a united team and to see God’s glory through this beautiful nation!”
